Pros
- Lots of cool projects and you get exposed to various areas regularly. Cross-team work between federal and commercial teams. - The interesting subject matter of a defense contractor but with the tech skills and wow-factor of the Bay Area's engineering. - Federal customers trust us and do not dictate our software roadmaps & decisions like they do with the majority of defense contractors. - Startup vibe without the insane hours. - Coworkers are all excellent to be around and incredibly intelligent and reliable - Compensation and career growth are superb. - Boundaries are largely respected and the demands of the job are very reasonable - Silicon Valley tech's perks in Virginia location - Occasional work travel is interesting - Interviewers were very honest about all of the great and not-so-great, so you join with full visibility of what's coming. I feel like I got exactly what I signed up for and it seems none of my coworkers are disappointed either
Cons
- Inflexible with remote work/location, even though FDE is often a remote job - PTO is not very competitive, especially since we do not have flex holidays - Core hours allow flexibility for errands, but still not quite flex time. - No 401K match or after-tax 401K. Total comp makes up for it though.
