Pros

Each project team and division is managed differently. This translates into widely different experiences between different areas of the company. The team I'm on does a good job at keeping its people stimulated and motivated. Superstars are praised and fought for among the project managers but these superstars are few and far between. Working from home and vacation flexibility are great perks, as well as a talented and nurturing senior management. The company is trying to become "Tier 1" whatever that means, and is making inroads to automate some of its processes and be more tech-savvy. It still isn't where we were back in the AMS days, but it's at least something.

Cons

Horrible salary structure. The starting pay is decent, but the 4% average yearly increases leave you horribly out-of-sync with new employees. Efforts to bring salary up to par are met with fierce retaliation, as the company keeps salaries low in order to boost overall profitability numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if most of my team is in the lower 25th percentile for market salaries. Money for supplies, extra training, and bonuses is always non-existent. Every quarter there is "no money for indirects" and this cycle always repeats. No company-paid training or sponsored training (other than a horrible CBT website), you're left to fend for yourself. And when you do get a certification to improve your standing within the company....your salary increase doesn't even reflect that.

Pros

The "unlimited" FTO is the leader of the pros. Then the leadership has been mostly great and accommodating in allowing you to take time off. There are also plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. There is also the work. Its is very interesting work for specific customers and seeing your part get implemented into a larger project has been rewarding. The team is also great. Everyone is friendly and genuinely cares.

Cons

The big Con like many project oriented Gov contractors is that "everything" becomes priority and it can be difficult to stay on track as well as not get in the way of other teams.
