Pros

-flexible scheduling, most departments are pretty good about giving you time off for finals and stuff -convenient location -relaxed atmosphere

Cons

-low pay -different department standards--some treat student employees very well, some treat them pretty poorly -asi or corporation can pay a lot more than state jobs -future employers appear to prefer internships over "student" jobs on your resume

Pros

At the ASI Children's center I learned the fundamentals of how to care and relate to children, got excellent training with head teachers (some were nicer than others), and moved my way up to other positions in the company.

Cons

Just like you do with friends, some of the head teachers you have chemistry with and others you don't. The ones you don't make the job feel more difficult. Pay was okay for me then with lower costs and inflation but now I am guessing it won't be enough for the current economic times.
