Pros
It's a great cause - helping to end poverty around the world. Most people are smart and passionate about what they do and are fantastic to work with. Benefits are very strong for a nonprofit organization.
Cons
Senior Management lacks the ability to effectively and competently run the organization. During my four years there, we went through five staff restructurings, two of which were organization-wide and included large layoffs due to financial troubles (not economy-related, but mismanagement). They keep shuffling things around below them in the hopes that it will make things run better, when in fact, they should be looking at themselves to see how things could be improved starting at the top. In the last round of layoffs, they made attempts to involve the staff in the decision making process, but that only resulted in higher anxiety and lower staff morale for everyone. Until the Senior Management changes and they get their financial situation stabilized, I would not recommend working for CARE USA.
