Pros
The best part are the people actually doing the work. They are the most amazing group of individuals I've had the pleasure to know. The benefits and flexibility to work remotely are pretty good (especially in comparison to other orgs). I love the mission of the org, but it often feels that the management doesn't align with it.
Cons
Previous review could not be more accurate: "In the past 2-3 years, the Executive Management Team (reporting to the CEO) has doubled in size. This top-heavy suite includes highly paid floaters with opaque roles, a surge of Washington DC Democratic Party stalwarts, and the expected tossed salad of new ideas, initiatives and champions. With a few exceptions, the next layer of senior management doesn’t inspire higher confidence. The latest backstabbing catty tactic or in-your-face unprofessional outburst pepper the daily musings of the hapless around the water cooler. As such, turnover has been accelerating and this is key – it is turnover of valued, skilled employees. Recruiting fresh new talent is one thing – exchanging high-performing people with less-than-competent replacements is a sure-fire way to accelerate the rot from within. There continue to be highly talented & industrious individuals working at CARE USA. Sadly, these individuals are becoming isolated within a core culture sorely in need of honest self-assessment." We recently completed our third layoff in 10 months, which continues to drive more quality employees out -- either by layoff or out of fear that they'll be next.
