Pros

Fantastic work-life balance. As a project manager, I get to work from home. CBRE provides me with all the tools, equipment, resources I need to do my job effectively. My manager doesn’t micromanage me and trusts/allows me to get my work done remotely. Management wants to see us grow and develop. They approached me and asked if there were any certificates I want to pursue to help me become more of an expert in my field. I gave them my proposal and they offered to reimburse me for my expenses without hesitation. I also get the opportunity to interface with upper management both on the CBRE side as well as the client side. This gives me the opportunity to showcase my talents and get on the radars of important decision makers. When I interviewed, the hiring manager advised me that we can receive up to 10% yearly bonus for succeeding in our metrics for the client. I didn’t take it seriously at the time, but he wasn’t BSing. We have been successful and have received the full 10% each year.

Cons

Some managers can be more controlling than others. Benefits are mediocre.

Pros

Honestly? Not much. The vision insurance was decent, I guess. Truthfully though, there wasn't much.

Cons

Management's refusal to allow employees freedom. I routinely got praise from the client and hit the maximum score on my goals. If things weren't done "by the book", they were wrong. The health insurance was awful. Going to self-employment, one of the things that you hear is that you're going to pay a lot for health insurance. However, I'm actually paying LESS than when I worked for CBRE. When you work for CBRE, don't consider job security something that you're going to have. I saw two employees with 15+ years for the company get laid off, with zero severance and no option to transfer elsewhere, unless they wanted to uproot their families and move states for more work and a pay cut. This is the worst company that I've ever had the displeasure to work for. If you have literally any other option of employment, please consider doing that.
