Pros

The company hosts fun events like cupcakes to celebrate Mardi Gras and barbecues for the baseball game opener of the year. I met some smart, friendly coworkers that were amazing to work with. I admire that this company hires many people right out of college or early on in their career so that they can gain work experience and learn new skills. This is a great job if you are new to the workforce, trying to break into a new industry. You’ll enjoy working here if you excel at learning independently and are able to take on new tasks with little prior experience or training. Some managers here are very open to communication, will advocate for your professional development, and value a work/life balance. CCA was responsive to COVID and quick to move to remote work. They continue to be flexible with a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote). HR was also extremely helpful in mitigating an incident where a manager was insisting that hourly workers wouldn’t get paid for travel outside of normal business hours. Although they don’t offer tuition reimbursement, they do pay for your gym membership and have a health app to stay healthy.

Cons

Many managers here lack experience, training, and don’t enforce best-practices. Conflict between coworkers is eminent when there is little accountability for bad behavior or not completing work. There are a lot of cliques here and mean girl behavior is a common occurrence. Some individuals, with reoccurring patterns of bullying and retaliation, have been promoted to management positions. It was quickly realized that while this company employs many women, there are mainly only older, white men in executive level positions. Executives would often make comments or tell stories on team meetings that were not conducive to an inclusive environment for all. I wish this company had more diversity and was more open to new ideas and ways of thinking. The culture itself feels “old-school”. For “conventions” (the company trade shows), men were told to wear company polos while women were required to wear scarves for the dress code. This combined with the fact that on emails or meetings females were often referred to as “the ladies” or “the girls”, created an environment that felt like 1960’s Mad Men. I would recommend removing this type of language to create a better environment for women in the workplace and the LGBTQ+ community. I recommend not burning yourself out by going above and beyond or taking on too much responsibility in your role at this company. It is tough to grow your career here and there is not a clear career path, goals to hit, or amount of years’ experience you need to be promoted or gain a higher title. You’re often told things like, “be patient” or “next year will be your year” for a promotion while taking on more and more responsibility and learning new skills on your own time. Though the starting pay is quite high at the start, wages stagnate and cap out the longer you stay with this company. The average pay is below industry standard for the same positions in the same location. There was a raise freeze during peak COVID while the company exclaimed that they had the best year in business to date. Managers have little oversite over what their employees are working on or how long it takes to compete tasks. You’ll often be asked to take on work outside of your job role and are rarely rewarded for this through additional compensation or a higher title. The turnover rate here is high with many top-talent individuals who have been here for years deciding to make the tough decision to cut their losses and move on.

Thank you for your candid feedback. Because we are committed to creating a comfortable and collaborative environment for our employees, we are disappointed to hear about your experience. We value and consider all feedback and will continue to find ways to improve. We continue to focus on our diversity efforts. We have a large population of women and women leaders at CCA that we are very proud of. As many companies did during COVID, we did put a pause on our annual increases in 2020, however we paid 60% of employees' bonuses to all. We continued with our 401k plan and company match. We also maintained 100% of our workforce during this entire period. Those hard fiscal decisions enabled us to move forward through these two very difficult years and put us in a great direction of growth, adding additional staff to CCA. Hybrid work schedules and our physical and mental well-being program all contribute to our number one priority which is the health and wealth of our employees. We feel these benefits and other innovations help us strive to be a great place to work.

Pros

CCA has a really positive, team-oriented culture. People are approachable and supportive, and there’s a genuine sense that everyone is working toward the same goal. It doesn’t feel overly corporate, which I appreciate. The mission—helping independent businesses succeed—actually comes through in the work, which makes it feel meaningful. There’s also a good level of stability, and if you’re someone who likes to take initiative, you can definitely grow and carve out opportunities for yourself. Leadership is accessible and makes an effort to communicate, and there’s been a noticeable focus on listening to employees and continuing to improve. It’s one of those places where people tend to stay a long time, which says a lot. Overall, it’s a solid place to work with good people, a collaborative environment, and a company that’s trying to do the right things.

Cons

No cons I can think of.

Pros

- Supportive and collaborative immediate team. - Strong relationships with coworkers and opportunities to build lasting friendships. - Industry-standard design tools and interesting projects. - Good work-life flexibility depending on the team. - Leadership within the Visual Merchandising department genuinely cared about employee well-being and collaboration.

Cons

- Career growth opportunities for creative roles are extremely limited, making it difficult to build a long-term career. - Project timelines are often reactive rather than proactive, which creates unnecessary stress and compressed design schedules. - Accountability across departments should be stronger so deadlines are shared fairly rather than shifting pressure onto downstream teams. - Company culture has changed over the past several years and no longer feels as people oriented as it once did.
