Pros

- You are the leader, you set the tone - Only speaking for myself, my DM is good to work with

Cons

- Most staff you hire are retirees and looking for something to do; some may need the money some don't. Scheduling around their schedule is not ideal but has to be done due to the demands of hitting your numbers. Why? It's not recommended to work this population with strict request time off, they will just quit. So you're stuck with recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. It is what it is though. In a business you must recruit to be successful, however just keep that in mind. You want to retain your employees if you want to hit your numbers. - Only speaking for myself, corporate executives and HR do not care much about the Event Manager, they only care about those under the Event Manager role and those above the Event Manager role. Be extremely careful with what you say at all times, it can be distortedly used against you without due diligence from the HR side. Unfortunately, we are required to document cases but we won't get asked for those documents when an employee accuses us for something we have no fault in. These documented cases show behavioral patterns of employees; it's important to double check with the Event Manager in charge at least. - Raises doesn't even dent inflation. Bonuses aren't given even when it's deserved. Do not expect yearly raises or bonuses. - You CANNOT utilize your supervisors as supervisors. Pretty much you have to do EVERYTHING yourself. Why? Control labor hours by maximizing the only one salaried employee, the Event Manager. Your supervisors are just there to cover your two days off, that's it. If you can get your Senior Shift Supervisor to do more on your two days off, that's great. If not, you will have to get a PIP approved so you can have a strong location. Oh, since most of your staff are retirees, you must focus on coaching them computer and tech literacy. The answer to all this? BE EXTREMELY EFFICIENT IN EVERYTHING YOU DO, YOU HAVE TO MOVE FAST; NO EXCUSES!
