Pros

Initially CGI India was good. Now after the Asia pacific Head change in India, the company has become terrible. There is nothing positive to say. In short CGI India is hire and fire company

Cons

Top management like SVP, VP, Director and few managers eat huge chunk of the company's profit. Other's get less 1% or 2% or no hike even after performing better. There is no job security. Even after staying in the company for long time and getting good rating suddenly when the resource is moved out of project or the project ends then he or she is not given enough time to join another project. They are cornered and simply sacked out. Many good people left the company like this and it is difficult to get good resource from outside like the previous left out ones. This minimum bench period is not meant for senior director's and VP's. But the projects are forced to make use of junior and less skilled people to show profit instead of making use of highly skilled people because of their cost. 200 Rupees is paid to work on saturday and sunday. 200 is not for 9 hours per day. It is definitely for minimum work of 14 to 16 hours of work on week ends. Similarly people are asked to complete minimum training hours per year. But when the resource completes the training on the new skill and gets certified on their own cost, projects based on the recently trained skill is not given to them. It is said experience is required on the new skill even though the employees completed the certification. Then why are the employees are asked to complete the certification just to show the head count and total numbers of hours in trainings completed as a whole. Also the management force all employees to buy the company's stock listed in NASDAQ spending 2% to 3% of the monthly salary every month stating it as compliance. But when employees questions the tax part of it like how to pay tax for the stocks held outside india there is no answer. Because of this there will be always huge buy transactions in CGI shares pushing the stock upwards. Normally only top executives only will be allotted ESOP. But in CGI India all the employees are asked to purchase the share of the company from their monthly salary without knowing the tax implications

Pros

no specific positives to highlight from my perspective

Cons

I worked at CGI in both India and the USA and observed similar workplace culture concerns across both locations. The only real difference was HR—India HR felt more supportive, while my experience with USA HR was disappointing. My employment ended shortly after maternity leave due to an alleged “lack of projects,” which I experienced as a layoff. I also observed what appeared to be misuse of position by some leaders, including blurred professional boundaries, preferential treatment, and expectations that went beyond normal workplace roles—at times resembling personal-assistant-style demands rather than professional conduct. Surprisingly, I also noticed inconsistent “policies” applied differently to different individuals. In some cases, it felt like the rules changed depending on who you were. When leadership became aware that someone was related to another employee in the organization, it sometimes felt like that person was singled out or targeted rather than treated objectively. Overall, these practices—whether through inconsistent treatment, perceived power misuse, or favoritism—undermine trust, damage workplace culture, and raise serious concerns about fairness and professionalism.
