Great people, bad company - Anonymous employee CMTA Consulting Engineers Employee Review

Pay - the pay here is absolutely horrendous for an entry level to mid level engineer. Most people start well under ~10-20K less than what you can expect from an electrical/mechanical engineering degree. They try to soften this up by telling you about the bonus structure and that you will easily be able to blow it out of the water to make up that difference. Issue is you only get that bonus the last 5 months and it does not at all reflect the work you put in or how well the company is doing. Most people maybe got maybe 10% of their salary while working 60+ hours a week to try to work up that bonus. However all of the principal or well established engineers get the majority of the bonuses even though you’ve done the majority of the work. Work life balance - as previously stated before you will often work 50-60 hours a week. The culture here shames people who work only 40 hours a week and management makes it seem like that’s the only way to work your way up. So you’ll end up trying to bust your back for mediocre pay and a mediocre bonus. The drastic increase in hours really won’t make it worth it at all over other industry and the pay is well under 60% of what I expected after graduating.
