Difficult Company to Work For - Project Manager CN Employee Review

Pros

Well compensated....I think this is the main reason people stay. Some teams are great to work for, others not so much. I worked at HQ (office job) and had a few great bosses, and a few really difficult ones. It really comes down to who you work for; you might be able to have flex hours, work from home, etc. or you might work for someone that expects you to 'be in the office at 5:30 pm if you want to be considered for a promotion'.

Cons

Difficult to move up, very tied to who you know. Morale has been low in the last few years, especially with the current CEO. It is all about the bottom line - people are just the means to an end ($$). There are some execs trying to effect positive change, move the company into the 21st century. But it is basically a male-dominated company

Pros

Pays decently well for first job out of college. My manager and team are very reasonable with expectations placed on new hires. Working after office hours (past 4:30pm) is extremely rare and only expected in emergencies.

Cons

Very slow and/or limited job growth potential. Promotions into middle management are almost purely based on reputation with middle managers who are largely people with previous field experience. This is very disadvantageous to direct-from-college hires like myself and even my current manager.
