Pros

Pay check is great, plus its one of the best pensions in canada, plus amazing stock options (biggest investor is bill gates, look it up) youre looking at about 23 / hr for about 4-6 months training and then youre making 30 / hr for working in yard or about 45 / hr for road jobs. They even have spare boards where you sit on call with ur cell glued to ur face while you stare at that second beer you know you shouldnt drink.... stressful that is but you make the salary you wouldve made if you were actually working lol Outdoors job!!! -40c... windy... get out there!!

Cons

it varies from city to city ok everybody.... but CN is a way of life job, youll be doing nights 5 days a week or on the road barely ever home.... thats why it pays well... youll be thinking of rules/regulations off pay.... you'll never leave your cell.... you might get cut in half or squashed and theres statistics that show it happens a lot, dangerous job... totally worth it as long as your not stuck in a train with a nonhuman.

Pros

Pays decently well for first job out of college. My manager and team are very reasonable with expectations placed on new hires. Working after office hours (past 4:30pm) is extremely rare and only expected in emergencies.

Cons

Very slow and/or limited job growth potential. Promotions into middle management are almost purely based on reputation with middle managers who are largely people with previous field experience. This is very disadvantageous to direct-from-college hires like myself and even my current manager.
