Pros
Many talented individuals joined COTA attracted by the company's outward mission, and promises for involving them on projects requiring their knowledge and authority on Data Science, NLP and Machine Learning. They have the unique position of having medical experts onboard.
Cons
Many of these talented individuals have also left COTA. 1) Lack of vision and direction: The mission of the company is ultimately to enable the healthcare industry (pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, etc) to reduce the costs of healthcare for the healthcare industry. If you are thinking of joining the company for improving the quality of patient care or public health, please take a moment to try and fully understand the healthcare industry, COTA's clients and products before you make your decision. 2) Lack of Positive Culture: There is no HR department. Any discussion or complaint about toxic work environments to management is usually responded to with denial and shutdown. The hiring manager pressures employees to write positive reviews for the company. "Yes Men" get promoted at this company. Women who spoke too loudly were deemed "aggressive." Poor management policies will tear apart healthy team relationships between new managers and employees to create hierarchical distance. 3) Result = Poor Talent Management. Due to constant indecision of company product from a lack of vision and toxic norms at the company, the management do not fully leverage their talent pool for their abilities. Employees get sucked into managing toxic relationships as a result of chaos. Terrible off-boarding process.
