Cota has a noble mission however they are nowhere on track bringing "clarity to cancer care" with their daily operations. There is minimal structure with most activities done ad hoc and there is zero reflection on how functions can be better. Work streams and conversations are severely siloed. The database is built with minimal clinical input and is constantly changing which causes duplicative work and allows for messy data entry. Senior leadership emphasizes that issues are of the past or due to former employees. However, the same issues still persist, repeating itself with every project. This is only exacerbated by longstanding employees leaving (often out of frustration). There is a reason why the majority of employees have only been there less than a few years. Hiring new leadership doesn't erase the issues of the past. The lack of exit interviews proves Cota doesn't want to learn from their mistakes. Promotions are hardly merit based and there is no track for growth within the company. Therefore promotions are largely based on your relationship with your manager. If you do get promoted, you simply do the same work under a new title. There is little possibility to learn anything new or expand your skillset. Financial health of the company is concerning. Projects are rushed at the end of each year in order to meet revenue projections (that are still missed). Pay raises and bonuses are constantly pushed back. There is no dedicated finance department, so individuals in other departments have to perform these finance functions. As others have noted, there is a very toxic work environment. Superiors often speak ill of those they manage, creating a distrustful and fearful environment. Those that are most competent are taken advantage of. Working long hours and over weekends/holidays is common. Lack of a proper HR has allowed questionable behavior to perpetuate.
