Pros
8 hour shifts wich is not common on most railroad jobs. Most of the management in the Dispatchers office work their way up the ranks. Pay although not as much as some class I's was still very well even for the cost of living in Minneapolis.
Cons
They were getting desperate for new dispatchers when I hired on because in a 5 year time spand 80% of the dispatchers were retiring. Wich led to them hiring people right off the street with no prior railroad experience. Although I had 6 years in as a conductor and engineer at the WSOR already, many of my fellow new hires had never even been on a train. And soon they would be dispatching trains hundreds of miles away. Having no clue or idea what was happening out there. CP really need to send these new hires out on the road for at least a month so they could witness things and get a general idea. Other than that they appointed E.H.H to CEO.
