Pros
Stable company and largely recession proof. Gym on site.
Cons
- No coffee, mugs, or cups for water. Was very dehydrated on my first day of work as was not told this was the case (who doesn't provide their employees coffee and cups and mugs etc?) - Compensation is poor compared to oil and gas, CP is facing an exodus of employees currently moving to oil and gas because CP only gives 2% raises a year. New CPA makes 80-90K at CP plus 15% bonus vs 100K base plus 20-30% bonus, and LTIP in oil and gas. Basically if you can work in oil and gas go for it. - Just brought in work from home 2 days a week, literally only because they couldn't hire people without it. Before that you would be fired for working from home or not in Calgary. - CP culture - Consequential leadership is as toxic as it sounds. - Toxic environment where teams cast blame on one another to avoid accountability.
