Pros
Pay, benefits, retirement. The pay is one of the highest in the industry. The pay vs work/life balance is a trade off
Cons
Way too many managers. So many that they’re tripping over one another which causes resentment and backstabbing amongst them selves. Too much micromanaging. Train crews and support groups such as MOW, etc are paid at a professional level so they should be trusted at a professional level. So there should be no need for so many managers. We never had ATMs and only 3 Trainmaster’s per terminal and one Superintendent in the past. The crews were left alone to do what they do best and were trusted to do so. Now that deceased CEO E Hunter Harrison has created an environment of distrust amongst union members vs management, the company has become management heavy when it was unnecessary.
