Pros

Benefits: CRDF Global offers a fantastic 403(b) plan, which includes great employer contributions. Medical benefits are also good and vacation is generous. The subject matter is interesting and the international flair fo the work is compelling.

Cons

Base pay is barely conducive for survival relative to the work performed, especially if you are a staff member with student loan payments. The benefits are good... but you can't pay rent and student loans with them. In addition, only lip-service paid to work/life balance. The cycle seems to be 1) staff works exceedingly hard to meet goals, expectations, and commitments - crushing themselves; 2) staff burns out and morale decreases; 3) Work stress contributes to personal or professional tragedy; 4) Leadership decides that work/life is a thing; 5) Nothing happens, the cycle repeats. Further, the organization is a victim of inconsistent, indecisive leadership. Decisions are made, changed, changed again, questions asked regarding why things were changed in the first place. Often, these decision are communicated poorly down the chain of command, which leaves subordinate staff paralyzed to commit to any given process, lest they are reprimanded for not making the right choices. Further, lower-level management often takes on the direct responsibilities of more senior leadership.

We're all affected by these extreme changes in the US government so it's a bit stressful to try and diversify our portfolio quickly
