Beautifully Landscaped Campus, Terribly Low Staff Salaries - Administrative Support Coordinator CSU Sacramento Employee Review

Pros

The benefits provided are quite good, and if you have accumulated any years of experience as a State of California employee, you bring those with you and can accumulate more vacation and sick leave time. There are many places on campus to eat, and there is always some interesting event to attend.

Cons

Staff salaries are far lower on this campus than at other CSUs, and far below what you would be paid for a comparable job at the State, at a community college or in the private sector. While there are training opportunities on-line and on-campus, staff rarely will be given the time to avail themselves of it. Transferring between departments is quite difficult and most new positions are hired as Temporary, leaving you with no real security. Employees have to pay to park on-campus, despite the meager wages they receive. General campus morale is poor and there is little camaraderie or support between departments, colleges and administrative offices. Many managers have terrific skills in political maneuvering, but far less ability in managing staff effectively.
