Pros

Calix offers some great benefits such as full time work from home, unlimited PTO, and competitive health plans and salary. The company has a robust tech stack and generally quick to adopt new technologies. They offer employees a choice of mac or pc to suit employee preferences. Ongoing development is highly encouraged and supported with access to additional learning resources. Great overall culture too with highly motivated smart people . Several large cities with higher concentration of employees have recurring meetups which is nice to get away from behind the screen in home office. The companies products, values and mission statement are impressive as well. Go see for yourself on calix.com

Cons

Calix is growing up with significant growth in recent years resulting in lots of change, the fast paced environment may not be for everyone. Priorities can shift often as the company reacts to market and product changes. Being a global company, work/life balance can also be impacted if you don’t manage accordingly. However work from home flexibility allows for you to own your schedule to some degree. Like any other company too many meetings can be a problem although Calix has implemented several initiatives to avoid meetings company wide on designated days.

Pros

Decent salary. You'll also quickly gain valuable experience in how not to operate on your next job: a lesson that will serve you well in future roles.

Cons

Old-fashioned work culture where you're expected to execute without question. Excessive overtime work, release cycles are chaotic, and there's little appetite for improving systems or sustainability, it's all about following orders rather than thinking critically.
