Pros

Its been 1.5 yrs here. The small sweet company. I usually stay away from internal company politics, but in Calix I could not sense it happening here. Work Wise - I will say it is an average company. For BNG ( Border Network Gateway) team, it is a great company, but as far as core routing is concerned they rely on 3rd party protocol stack, so you wont get an opportunity on the core routing work. However, they started to make their mark in routing segment also, expanding the routing team and trying to adopt to inhouse core routing development as on Nov 2024. Parity : Since the customers now requesting routing features on Calix products, the routing parity is huge. Routing Component is very basic and minimal. Work pressure - Almost non-existent. Seldom does it peak during releases, else chill life. Culture: Great. The HR team looks after that all events/festivals are recognised and celebrated. Small stable company (25 yrs old ) but started office in India 3 yrs ago. WFH - Hybrid, twice a week recommendation. They provide all the necessary accessories you need to setup home work-station. Cab facility for free. Free Lunch for free.

Cons

No Salary hike since 1.5 yrs. I was given Good hike on joining, so I understand they may take a year or two for the next hike. No C-suite official in Bangalore. They occasionally visit India. Gives used or cheaper quality laptops to work force. Dont provide licensed software to be used by employees. Employes often end up using cracked version when they see no choice. Internal Development Servers are slow and Suck ! No Udemy subscription yet, despite giving feedback multiple times. They are stuck with useless coursera. Small Space. If even 50% strength comes to offc, offc get crowded. They are looking for a bigger offc.

Pros

Decent salary. You'll also quickly gain valuable experience in how not to operate on your next job: a lesson that will serve you well in future roles.

Cons

Old-fashioned work culture where you're expected to execute without question. Excessive overtime work, release cycles are chaotic, and there's little appetite for improving systems or sustainability, it's all about following orders rather than thinking critically.
