Pros

This is a magical company!!! At the moment, the organization seems very well run; they have upper management in place who are top notch. The company appears to be heading in a great direction. I have hardly been in such a supportive workplace environment. Someone at the top has done something right. They are fundraising extremely well, there are innovative, out-side-of-the-box employees in development who are doing things that other non-profits simply are not doing: holding major fundraising gala's at the SF Jazz festival raising hundreds of thousands of dollars, continuing to market other company-wide events. Also, Caminar is great about holding staff appreciation and client appreciation events. It is a great time to come to Caminar!!!

Cons

The pay could go up for most positions, but that is the case with most non-profits. Actually, Caminar is pretty good in the compensation department comparatively. There are some upfront costs involved, such as use of personal vehicle and phone

Pros

I love my colleagues, respectful work environment, flexible office/remote working. I feel lucky to work with my team. Great bosses, great CEO. Caminar's mission and the people they help are inspiring.

Cons

Nonprofit work can be challenging when government and foundation grant support shifts. The stress associated with funding is real. But, that is true for every nonprofit.

Pros

I worked for Caminar's now closed Redwood House. It was an incredible experience and I learned a lot there. The program director and assistant program director were fantastic leaders and created space for learning experiences and could prove their skill through practical engagement with the clients. Training opportunities were usually well thought out and useful.

Cons

Corporate's terrible handling of the closure of numerous acute facilities that they owned. Slow and confused explanations for what needed to be done as part of the closure, resulting in the rushed discharge of clients falling onto our overworked, burnt out staff. Abysmal HR department with one of the slowest hiring rate and potential employee retention I have ever seen. Low staffing meant constant overtime and back to back graveyard shifts. Sluggish to keep wages competitive and within the needs of QoL. An increasingly detached senior management.
