Pros

Canon brand, pleasant office space, pension scheme

Cons

The decision to make mass redundancies and outsource to Manila with poor planning, incompetant training, and lack of leadership has damaged the company fundamentally. Unfortunately the pandemic has exacerbated this. There is no effective leadership, training, support or management. Directors, HR, and managers just don't listen to their staff. Outsourcing to Manila has been a disaster which has damaged the Canon brand irreversibly and nobody wants to take responsibility for it. Support for employees is all talk and absolutely no action. The Kyosei philosophy is purely fictional and exists only in the minds of out of touch Japanese directors. Long overtime hours expected for no pay. Team leads with no training or experience who are constantly in 'meetings' with management instead of supporting their staff. Sales people having to lie to Customers who are losing trust and faith.

Pros

Everyone is genuinely nice and cares about their jobs. Nice offices, and big corporate backing. Can't really say that the experience was negative but for high acheivers/ ambitious people probably not what you're looking for.

Cons

A ton of bueracracy, there are some many layers of approval that even the simplest things take months to get done. They never take any risks and ideas are very top down. Slow career progression and mediocre salary. Only way to progress is to hope someone in the same position retires or leaves.
