Pros

The team is friendly and helpful, and there are obvious efforts from the management level to improve things. The staff is aging, but Canon has recently made efforts to attract younger talent to its offices. Its internship program is a great program, and the compensation and experience are well worth it. They are especially attractive compared to many other internships, which often go unpaid or with very little pay. The workstations are spacious and unlike some companies, there are no "shared" cubicles. The computers are up to date. The company does stock free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate for its engineers.

Cons

The atmosphere of the R&D is not young, and there is too much political drama. Unlike many other engineering firms, Canon lacks meal benefits. The company tries to make this up in other incentives. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is not very fast paced. Each individual has their own projects -- but some fail to see the need for the project while others fail to see the urgency. Many were unhappy about the perceived direction of the company. I am unsure of the situation, but I was led to believe that the president of Canon USA was new and had changed what had previously been "a very enjoyable place to work" into something that was less appealing.

Pros

Great company with advanced training opportunities and a global footprint. Taught me everything I needed to know to do my job in a clear and concise manner and also gave me the tools and references to get the work done. Always had support if I needed it on any task. Respected my time and energy. If you love technical work that people actually appreciate this is an amazing gig.

Cons

Long commutes in city traffic combined with median level pay for the job role kind of take away from the great things Canon does in other areas.

Pros

Decent starting pay, excellent experienced pay, excellent medical benefits, great culture, industry leader, best tech, best everything. If you're a quality contributor, you will get plenty of overtime.

Cons

None to really state. High volume markets will require overtime, which is a pro or con depending on your needs.
