Pros

The office is nice and is in a great location, excellent Christmas party, lots of young professionals, great way to network and meet other recent graduates. I’m still friends with some of my former colleagues from years ago. They will sponsor you to obtain your NMLS license (on the first try).

Cons

CapCenter is a highly unique company in a tough, cyclical industry. They provide you with an NMLS license and allow you to originate loans in house without any prospecting. However, this company is well known for over hiring when rates are low and then executing massive layoffs when rates inevitably rise again. They will tell you it’s different this time, they have a plan, etc, but the fact is, your job is not safe. This is not a job for someone who is prone to making mistakes, if you do, you will be micromanaged to the extreme (to try and pressure you out) and let go at the first opportunity. The company is small, HR is biased, cross the wrong people and you will get burned. They say it’s a boys club - but it’s just as much of a girls club too…Unless you are very good with numbers and are willing to grind, I’d look elsewhere. Great coworkers, tough tough environment.

Pros

Coworkers were all friendly. Nice office

Cons

Training was mismanaged and scattered. I constantly had to nag my overworked manager about feedback. There was never any follow through from leadership on finalizing my NMLS license (I basically wasted my time studying for 8 hours a day). I was laid off… too many cooks in a 7% interest rate exonomy
