Pros

Some amazing people at all levels. Lots of networking opportunities and not hierarchical at all. I’ve had some great times with people on my projects and it definitely has been a pinnacle during my time here. People are also less “fake” and aggressive than some other firms I’ve experienced in the past. Lots of genuineness in North America from what I’ve seen. Some work is interesting as well. Capco is starting to win projects against larger more established firms and the work tends to be challenging yet fulfilling. There are growth opportunities, opportunities to lead domains, and opportunities to be published if you make the time and seek them out - Capco encourages this type of behavior which is nice for anyone looking to build their brand internally. Pre-COVID social events always slapped.

Cons

Behind the scenes operational processes could be drastically improved. From HR proceedings, L&D offerings, to general staffing, myself and other colleagues have expressed a lot of concern. PE ownership can be restricting at times from a financial perspective. Some of the work can be grueling and extremely uninteresting staff augmentation work which can be a career death sentence unless rolled off. Make sure to heavily network to land projects that fit your interests and experience. A lot of people come in thinking this will happen automatically and are disgruntled once they are reviewing trades and doing PMO staff aug every day for their entire time here. At the end of the day, Capco does not have the same amount of resources as other larger firms. This is something that definitely shows in some areas. I think a lot of unhappiness stems from inflated expectations and the surprise of some of these aforementioned cons.

Capco Response

Thank you for the positive feedback on the quality of our people, our inclusive and empowering culture and the opportunity for high quality work. Any company that experiences strong growth and rapid expansion can struggle to develop back-office processes at the same pace. That said, we have been proactive in the expansion of learning and development and in our commitment to translate growth into opportunity and accelerated progression for our people. Like any consultancy firm, Capco undertakes a variety of work for clients. As a result of winning in the market against larger firms, we are able to offer more than our fair share of exciting and high profile projects so we retain talent in the business. Whilst internal networking is important in building your personal brand and credibility in any firm, Capco does support effective resourcing on projects with a dedicated Resourcing specialist who looks to match the available options to career aspirations and development needs. We regularly share a view of the pipeline of work available through internal announcements such as those announcing business wins from our Managing Partners. Thank you for your continued contribution to Capco.

Pros

Capco has a friendly culture where people like to win together. A solid meritocracy that is expertise focused, and growth oriented with approachable leaders and plenty of opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Employees should be self-motivated (which for me is a plus), but being a smaller company it does lack clear and standard documentation routines. There is no one-size fits all career map, which allows self-starters to succeed and rise quickly in the organization.
