Some talented people pass through, and a few genuinely care about their work. The company has been around a long time and has name recognition on the Cape. That’s about where the positives end.
Cons
Cape Associates is a textbook example of “third generation theory” in action. The current leadership, Matt Cole (owner) and his sister (Director of HR), have completely lost touch with what makes a company healthy. The culture is toxic, rigid, and deeply reactive. There’s no flexibility, if you’re sick, you’re somehow expected to have predicted it the day before so you can “call out in advance.”
The turnover rate is absolutely staggering. In the year I worked there, roughly 30 people left. That’s an average of one resignation every other week, and it shows. The atmosphere is constantly tense, with burned out employees picking up the slack until they too decide to leave.
Management will take on any project that brings in money: big or small, feasible or not, leaving teams overwhelmed and under supported. It’s a churn and burn environment where quality, morale, and basic humanity take a back seat to short term revenue.
