Pros

1. Great upper management: I truly feel that Jeanette and Greg Penner care about my well being. I have had nothing but good interactions with them. They care about their staff. Good continued education incentives (providing $2000 budget a year for con-ed) and a bonus if you double the amount required by the State (which is an easy goal to hit). They care to have the best on their team and help you to take that next step as a therapist. 2. Good caseload: Each appointment is 45 minutes long (evals and regular visits). I have plenty of time to work with patients and provide good care without feeling rushed. There are also some rules that have been put in place to make sure PT's are not overloaded with evals (YES!!!!!!!!). This was not always the case and is a very positive development in the company. 3. Listens to feedback: I had a really difficult 2021. I was depressed and felt overworked at that time. I questioned quitting. It was a tough time that I am happy to be past. Really felt the support of Greg and Jeannette Penner and some of my coworkers during that time. There was a change to the amount of load I was carrying at work after just two visits with Jeannette Penner. I feel that the feedback I gave was heard, and translated to changes in the entire company to make sure PT's were not overloaded with evals and to create a greater sense of fairness within clinics that at the time was severely lacking. If it were not for the quick response of upper management and the encouragement, patience, and grace of coworkers during that dark season I doubt I would be still working at Capstone. 4. Flexible schedule: I work 4/10's and love it. Had to get rid of two appointment block times during the week to take my daughter to daycare and that was no problem for Capstone. 5. Good pay: I feel I am compensated well for my work. Happy with salary but Capstone also has a lot of incentives to get more money. I know if I go above my productivity requirements I will be compensated for the greater work. 6. Relaxing atmosphere: I feel so relaxed working at the Birch Bay Capstone Clinic. It is a smaller clinic compared to some others within Capstone. I worked at the Ferndale clinic with Capstone for many years and that had a very different vibe. There were a lot more therapists in Ferndale (all good by the way) and the waiting lobby was always busy. Front desk staff also appeared to overloaded at that clinic which didn’t always make for a smooth running clinic. Can’t speak to how it is running this past year since I moved clinics. I asked for a change 2022 and feel like I got a fresh and relaxing start at Birch Bay. All to say choose your location wisely (patient population and your work/home balance may be different depending on your location) and know there is a possibility to change if that is best for you and the team. Some might like the busier atmosphere and find the calmer small clinics to be boring (not me). 7. Great upward mobility opportunities:I am not at the place where I care to be a manager. I just want to grow as a therapist, help my patients, and go home and enjoy my wife and daughter. A good work/life balance. I feel like I have that at the Birch Bay Capstone clinic. But there is great opportunity for upward mobility if that is what you are seeking. 8. Good PTA's: Well educated PTA's. They also have the incentives for continued education and the result is a staff that is constantly growing in knowledge and skill. I am currently working with a PTA (who is a joy to work with) that just became LSVT BIG certified.

Cons

I feel like a lot of the cons stem from my rough year in 2021 but these issues have been resolved. I am no longer being overloaded with evals. There is a trust that greater work will lead to greater compensation. I have been given a fresh start at the calmer Birch Bay clinic. Part of my leaving the Ferndale clinic stemmed from that 2021 year. I felt that I had to leave that clinic to let that part of my past go and I am happy Capstone accommodated me with this change in location. Lot of personal growth from that tough year. I don’t want to have it come across that the Ferndale location is not good, I just needed a change and a busier clinic I found out is not my vibe. Despite the challenges that 2021 brought I actually have a greater trust in the company after that experience because of the response of upper management. There are some personal and minor complaints that I have. I am sure I’ll find these types of complaints at most places I work in this life. Nothing specific to Capstone. And probably not something someone reading this review should care about at all.

Pros

The providers actually care about their patients. I have worked with a lot of therapists over the years and Capstone had longer appt times and didn’t utilize aides like a lot of places will. They are more hands on with patients than other clinics. This is the only reason I rated two stars instead of one.

Cons

Where to start… 1. Was told we aren’t allowed to say we are tired because “it’s negative”. Never mind that the reception staff was there at 7:30 every morning and most of us worked ten hour days. We had a group chat and would just say morning and I’m sleepy or didn’t sleep well, and we all got talked to. 2. The WiFi/phones went down four times in the six months I worked there. Every single time, I was responsible for climbing up on the counter and CLINGING to a cupboard to reset, restart, etc. There was one shift I spent 10 hours climbing up and down and under cupboards WHILE RUNNING A FEVER (see next point) and spent over 4 hours on the phone with IT. They refused to pay to have someone come down to fix it (located in Bellingham and we were in Bothell) but in the time I spent on the phone with IT, they could have driven down, had it fixed, and gotten back to their office. I also had to use my personal cell phone and give out my number to certain patients because the phones were connected to the wifi and were also down. I ended up getting calls from patients after hours for the next week. 3. I caught the flu and stayed home to recuperate. I have asthma and every time I get sick, pneumonia and bronchitis is a serious concern and imperative that I don’t overdue it. While home sick, I was getting text messages through out the entire day from management and my coworkers. They pressured me back to work before my fever broke many times despite doctors notes and communicating with them my medical history and doctors concerns. They then got frustrated and put me on an action plan because of how much work I had missed. If they had left me alone to actually rest and not pushed for me to return, I would have been better quickly. Instead, I was sick for nearly three weeks. I had to pay for medical tests. I got behind on rent because I ate through my sick time and had to go unpaid. One of those days I got pressured to come back was the day I spent 10 hours climbing up and down and dealing with IT on top of patients. Needless to say, the next day my fever spiked and I had a migraine. I came in to open because no one else could and told them I needed to leave early because I was sick, delirious (I didn’t lock my door before bed the night before. I’m ocd, paranoid, AND lived in a bad area. That’s how out of it I was), and my head was killing me and I was going to start throwing up. They proceeded to sit me down and lecture me WHILE I’M CRYING from the pain and feeling like poo, then the worst part happened. They straight up lied to me and then got caught. I was told after they were done with the lecture that they wanted my key because they were having issues with the locks and they wanted to check it. Said it was okay that I was leaving without it because “someone else is always around”. I was suspicious but let it play out. When I returned to work I checked with my coworkers, no one else had their key checked. The very next day after checking in with them, I arrived to open but couldn’t get in without a key. Due to the providers having a late start, I was stuck waiting in the parking lot for 45 minutes to get into the building. Right as I said screw it and went to go home, a coworker finally showed up. This is when they admitted to me that they took my key with no intention of giving it back because they heard I was looking for a new job and wasn’t a team player and they were concerned I wouldn’t return the key and they would have to replace the locks again because of the person who had my job before me. 4. When I started, I found out the person before me walked out on the job. They had three different people in that position in 2023. 5. They gave us a survey to help “improve” things, but it was actual bs. It was all crap questions that were close ended and pointless. Not to mention the answers were “anonymous” but they were divided by clinic and we only had 5 people who worked in our clinic. I couldn’t even answer the survey honestly because it would have been obvious who was making a fuss, and I was already accused of not being a team player because I was looking for a new job. 6. While working there, we were asked to write positive reviews about working there to negate any negative reviews they had.
