Pros

I think Craig Abod is a brilliant business man - and you can't fault him for that. He hires young, eager, energetic kids and molds them to fit his business model - enticing them with "bonuses," gift cards, iPads, and a tropical getaway at the end of the year. Shoe Day is a big selling point during your interview - if the company hits their goal every woman in the company gets $250 to spend on a pair of shoes. (Yeah, there is a Boy's Night Out too). The people are a generally good group to work with, and I still have friends that have either also left or still work there.

Cons

Maybe not all the managers are terrible, but mine was one of the most incompetent people I have ever met, and it's clear that some of the managers only retain their jobs due to unfortunate instances of nepotism and loyalty to the owner. Not a ton of room for advancement. The bonuses and shiny objects are meant to distract employees from the fact that they are paid less than HALF the competitive industry rate. After working there for a year and a half, I got a job at another company paying over $20k more. The office environment did not make me feel like a professional - although I do know that the area which housed the small, out-dated, crammed and dirty "cubicles" has since expanded into the suite next door, he "cubes" were really long desks with about 5 computers to a desk. No dividers. No privacy. No concentration. Constant chatter, cold calls, screwing around, etc. Don't get me wrong - there was a LOT of hard work that went on, but it's a VERY different work environment. While many of the people are great, there are also very cliquey tendancies there, and some of the "old-timers" (at the ripe old age of 34) think they rule the world and can do no wrong.

Pros

4.5 years working at Carahsoft, I’ve seen and heard it all. Work from home, too many people take this for granted. They promote within! Plenty of opportunity to move up if you work hard and deserve obviously. Work hard, be proactive, take accountability, be reliable, consistent aka do your job and you aren’t micromanaged. If the above is done, they compensate you very nicely. Craig pays 50% of health insurance (not sure if this has changed for new hires) that is unheard of and extremely helpful. Insurance is great, never had any issues. Craig cares and does so much for his employees, way more than I think some people deserve and take for granted. Team Trip, 401k match, Shoe Day, Epic Bar Tab, Reggae Fest, milestone and birthday gift cards, Trophy Bottle, snack boxes, and more.

Cons

They hire kids right out of college with zero work ethic and work experience. They don’t fire people enough, you have a handful of top performers picking up the slack for their colleagues and carrying the team. 60+% of my pay is bonus which makes tax season daunting and stressful.
