Pros

You learn A LOT and if you are a recent gradute you will meet a lot of people that are the same age

Cons

Like others have said, it really depends on what team you are placed in. I for example had heard great things about this company but was placed on a team that was rather difficult. When I say difficult I do not only mean the work load but also some of the people (one team lead in particular). When it comes to working hard I have no problem with that… I too and a firm believer in the “work hard play hard” motto. The work was difficult because most of it was unethical and felt like a waste of time. You are told to make call blitzes and are encouraged to make them either early in the morning or late at night so you dont actually reach anyone but get your call numbers up…makes perfect sense? They cram you with information and use scare tactics to make you go home and study for quizzes and test. I pretty much felt like I was being hazed while trying to be initiated into a fraternity every day. They made me write nightly journal entries (because we are in 6th grade) and the team leads openly told us that they would have to respond to our nightly recaps in a negative way or else they would get in trouble. Some team leads were extremely passive aggressive and would love to play games with our heads. One minute they are hounding you because you don’t remember what carahsoft’s GSA number was in 2009 and next they are “cheersing” you at a happy hour event that you are forced to attend. Over all… IT’S A SCAM and is not a real representation of what a professional career should be. They pay you next to nothing, treat you like gum on the bottom of their shoe all while smiling and act surprised when people quit every other week. They trick recent graduates into thinking it’s the best opportunity because you get to drink alcohol in the office and go on a trip to Jamaica. Is it just me or does it seem unprofessional to hand drinks to your employees before they drive home/ inappropriate to be getting drunk half naked on an island with management? Last but not least there is no HR department which is the running joke in the office. I had a friend on another team that told me that men on her team would constantly make inappropriate jokes about her and make her feel extremely uncomfortable yet the response was "Go talk to HR about it..." followed by a chuckle since we all know there isnt a HR department. In regards to my pro: I wrote that I learned a lot and by that I meant that I learned how to never let people treat me and above all (and I quote from managements mouths) “If you aint cheatin, you aint tryin.”

Pros

4.5 years working at Carahsoft, I’ve seen and heard it all. Work from home, too many people take this for granted. They promote within! Plenty of opportunity to move up if you work hard and deserve obviously. Work hard, be proactive, take accountability, be reliable, consistent aka do your job and you aren’t micromanaged. If the above is done, they compensate you very nicely. Craig pays 50% of health insurance (not sure if this has changed for new hires) that is unheard of and extremely helpful. Insurance is great, never had any issues. Craig cares and does so much for his employees, way more than I think some people deserve and take for granted. Team Trip, 401k match, Shoe Day, Epic Bar Tab, Reggae Fest, milestone and birthday gift cards, Trophy Bottle, snack boxes, and more.

Cons

They hire kids right out of college with zero work ethic and work experience. They don’t fire people enough, you have a handful of top performers picking up the slack for their colleagues and carrying the team. 60+% of my pay is bonus which makes tax season daunting and stressful.
