Pros
The people overall are very friendly and do truly care about reaching kids in need of healthcare. There is a very strong support system(s)in place, which was helpful for my first year and I also think it’s helpful for people looking to get into the Home health and pediatric space.
Cons
I was a full time field therapist here previously for several years (prefer not to say which discipline) and a lot changed during my time. COFK, formerly known as Solace, was once a staple in the Colorado community being known as the premier choice for OT/PT/ST- I say this as a native. In the last 1.5years, unfortunately now COFK- has become your standard conglomerate and corporate healthcare agency to work for. Values and the community that once were Solace felt home grown and closely knit, but it seems since Solace has shifted to become COFK, those have gone out the door. COFK is unfortunately no longer clinician facing forward and it seems any communications from management or CEO/marketing only cares about revenue and consistent glorifying of everyone else except for the therapists, such as the nursing team, family caregiver program or car program. Don’t get me wrong the nursing team and CNA programs I am sure are fantastic and a vital part of the patient/family and care team however as a therapist, it’s hard to advocate for myself in my profession when it seems like the company just simply does not care. Quite frankly, it seems like there is an identity crisis now with COFK- the shift from Solace to COFK was one of the most confusing and negative experiences for myself and the patients/families I saw. Benefits and pay overall are at best, middle of the pack compared to market value of what else is out there-a simple Google search or job list search will tell you this. I would encourage you if you are reading this to advocate for your compensation and benefits as high as you are possibly able to do so- you’ve worked incredibly hard for an advanced degree in one of the hardest spaces in healthcare and should be compensating accordingly so.
