Leadership heavily relies on individual contributors to make major decisions, which has created a lot of ambiguity and slowed us down. We spend more time discussing what to do than actually doing it, and squads are left to figure out both their processes and priorities on their own. The product team, in particular, feels chaotic, constantly context-switching without enough time to fully think through solutions. Our application is outdated, burdened with a significant amount of technical debt and a messy backend, making it difficult to innovate or stay competitive. While there is a vision, it’s hard to see how everything connects because the business keeps shifting how we position ourselves. It often feels like sales is driving the direction rather than a clear product strategy. On top of that, while there are some great benefits, our healthcare plans leave a lot to be desired, especially for families facing extremely high premiums.
