Pros

I was given a few more hours than expected per week.

Cons

I was sexually harassed at work by a customer to the point that I was extremely uncomfortable and I felt unsafe. I went to grab my manager as I had no training on how to handle a situation like this at work. I told the manager on duty everything that the person had said to me and how they were making me feel. The manager went out and not only continued to help the customer who was harassing me but gave them a company discount. When I confronted my manager as to why they continued to help the customer instead of call security, they told me they thought I said the customer was making "jokes" about me that made me uncomfortable (even though I had told my manager exactly what was being said to me by this customer. It was more than jokes and it was making me feel unsafe.) My manager on duty did not listen to me when I was in need of help and I was told that Carhartt has no policy on sexual harassment in the workplace, therefore they did not know how to handle the situation. Not only did I feel hurt that my manager did nothing to help me, but I felt very unsafe to walk to my car that night in fear that the customer would be waiting for me because of the things they said they were wanting to do. You would think that a company as big as Carhartt would have some sort of policy or training for their employees around sexual harassment but apparently they do not. COME ON. It's 2019. Get with it. My new employer has made it clear to me on their sexual harassment policies and what steps to take if I ever need to. I feel much better going to a new workplace that has my back.

Thank you for the valuable feedback. We take all concerns related to sexual harassment very seriously. Our anti-harassment policy is designed to protect and create a safe work environment for our hardworking associates. The anti-harassment policy and processes are outlined in Carhartt’s Anti-Harassment Training, which all Carhartt associates are required to complete. There are multiple avenues for associates to bring forth such concerns to the various levels of leadership and Human Resources, and we would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak directly to better understand the situation that occurred. We would request that you please reach out to your former HR Business Partner so we can properly investigate the incident. If you are unsure how to connect, please call our corporate office at 313-271-8460 and ask to speak with an HR Business Partner.

Pros

holiday pay. can’t think of much else.

Cons

MANAGEMENT AND HR. they all go against you. stuff you report anonymously IS NOT ANONYMOUS. they do not close in inclement weather. you get scolded for asking to leave. instead of firing so we can collect benefits, they will purposefully schedule you outside available hours, for 3 hours every other week. you CANNOT take phone calls. even though the managers on theirs 25/8. No matter the importance, you will be scolded and told to clock out if you want to take a call. (Even if it’s less than a minute long) a store can have 20 employees, and somehow you’ll always be short staffed. they give you hours in the beginning, and then take them away and give them to the new new hires. like a never ending circle. being store manager pays not much more than being a BA either. And comes with much more responsibility.
