Pros

Carrot started with an incredible mission and was on the way to being a groundbreaking employer-sponsored benefit. The CEO wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty and understand her product inside and out. The benefits have always been outstanding and grew with the demand. Initially, the salaries were competitive as well.

Cons

Carrot was once a fast-growing, inclusive, and progressive employer-sponsored benefit, making a name for itself in the fertility and family-forming world. It's been disappointing watching them move away from such a successful model and limit itself to a cis-woman-centered benefit (family-forming benefits are for everyone, not just white, cis, straight, able-bodied women). Once the current Chief Customer Officer was brought on, I watched as early-hire employees were pushed out. Bullying, harassment, favoritism, and sweeping complaints to HR under the rug are all part of the new "revamped" Carrot. Any pushback against the CCO (or the friends and acquaintances she hired) will get you a one-way ticket to unemployment. Unless you know the higher-ups personally (or are the child of one of their friends) you stand little to no chance of being hired or internally promoted, regardless of your experience, expertise, or quality of work. HR claims to be happy to accept feedback, but quick to throw it in the shredder (along with employee reports of bullying and harassment by upper management). If you want to be hired by Carrot, make sure you are an Inspiring Woman of Iowa first.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your perception of the experience here at Carrot is not the standard we strive for. Carrot has been and remains an inclusive benefit supporting women, who are often the center of fertility decisions and consequences, plus people of all age, race, income, sex, sexual orientation, gender, marital status and geography. As an employer, inclusivity is also fundamental to all that we do. We have built our programs and processes to ensure that all employees have an equitable opportunity to succeed and grow. Each of our functional areas has established job frameworks to ensure clarity around role expectations and opportunities for growth and development. Our Quarterly Check In process also supports regular conversations surrounding feedback and growth throughout the year, and feedback from our quarterly engagement surveys is core to supporting our collective growth and success With all growing organizations, change is present and I recognize that it also comes with an opportunity for additional clarity and feedback. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience in more detail if you are interested. Please do not hesitate to reach out, my door is always open.
