Pros

-Rewarding work: you're helping local governments become more effective and efficient for their citizens; you're improving the quality life of citizens across the country. And, that's pretty cool. -Midwest nice: everyone here is incredibly smart, kind, and talented. They're the best at what they do, and they genuinely want to pitch in and help to provide our customers with the best experience possible. When I first started working here, I was waiting for the ball to drop and for people to start acting rude or catty like at other places I've worked...and I've been waiting years. It's never happened. Everyone is genuine and a joy to work with. -Super supportive: management respects your talents and get out of your way so you can do what you need to do. There's no red tape, micromanaging, or super long approval processes. If you have an idea, you can run with it, and you have the full support of your boss and the company. The company is also big into setting goals, celebrating wins (big or small), and recognizing when people have gone over and above or achieved something special. -Flexibility: the culture supports a remote work environment, and you can work from home from time-to-time, even if you're based out of the main office. They don't make you take a half day to go to a 1-hour doctor appointment: they respect you and understand that life happens, and they give you flexibility in your schedule when you need it. -Clarity: there's no question about our company goals or what we're trying to achieve. Everyone knows what we're shooting for, has team goals working toward our overall company objectives, and knows how their work feeds into the mission, vision, and values of the company. -Positive perks: benefits are pretty good, you get a decent amount of time off, and you get a partially-funded sabbatical when you hit 5 years. There's free snacks, fresh fruit, coffees, and teas. They support continued education, will pay for you to attend industry events, and everyone in the company gets a free Udemy account for online courses. They have fun team and company events/outings, and the holiday parties are always awesome.

Cons

-You're limited in terms of career growth at the company. They are pretty lax on the review process, and you just kind of stay at your title level unless you move to upper management. There isn't a bar set for you to keep progressing beyond where you're at. -Compensation and title levels are lower than industry standards. They don't really take experience and advanced education into consideration with your salary or hourly pay. -A lot of change. A fair amount of employee turnover and a lot of new hires.

Pros

Work you can be proud of- Helping local governments increase productivity and work more effectively and efficiently feels GOOD. Not only is it great to be in a business that helps improves the lives of others, but it's fun! The work is rewarding and far from boring. I am always excited to engage and collaborate with my coworkers. People you enjoy being around- Everyone works together no matter their age, job title, department, years of experience, etc. The employees at Cartegraph are genuinely happy, nice, friendly people. I never walk by someone without receiving a smile or a "Hi, how are you?". Transparency- Whether it’s a product update, new hire joining the team, or an employee’s birthday, everyone at CG knows about it- and that’s a good thing! Having an open and effective communication channel allows everyone within the organization to feel included and valued. Continuous feedback- Receiving advice and recognition from fellow team members and managers/leaders rocks. Not only does getting acknowledged feel good and instill confidence, but it shows that people TRULY care about your efforts. Foosball, snacks, and an unlimited supply of coffee.

Cons

Lack of diversity within leadership roles- Most of the executive team is white, middle-aged men. This makes it difficult for women, people of color, and other minorities to feel valued. When a leadership team lacks diversity, others don’t feel comfortable or confident enough to speak up and voice their opinions or concerns.
