Pros
- It's decent pay, and the insurance isn't that bad. - Although I can't confirm, you'll likely be better off at a bigger and newer store than you would a smaller one. - You're better off applying for register. - Try to get on EVERYONES good side, and smile when deep down, you're hurting very much.
Cons
This is at a small store that's understaffed (Heck, every caseys is understaffed) As kitchen, you're expected to run the register, answer their phones and help out with everything they need. They return the favor by standing as still as possible behind the register, and thanking anyone that leaves. If they're not doing that, they're spending 30 minutes in the bathroom, or going out for a smoke every 15 or so minutes. The assistant managers and manager work mornings, where they spend their time gossiping about both customers and employees. The store has a "teamwork" Idea which basically screws the night time employees over (We're not open 24-7) You're required to do your work, his work, her work, and their work all before it's time to close. You get in trouble for closing late, and also in trouble for skipping anything. (It makes the managers have to do something. Scary, right?), that have 2 active clerks from 5am to 2pm, and the morning cook. (They don't usually help the cook.) I'm not sure if this is all stores, but you do get a break ( I believe it's 10 minutes?) But it's only when you're not needed. The downside is, you're always needed. There's a good chance you'll be reduced to tears at the end of your shift. Either from the stress of being over worked, or from the customers themselves. Also expect to find penciled in changes to your schedule that you didn't agree to, or have even been informed of. There's no need to write it down, it'll be changed. Check that schedule daily!
