Very disorganized - OB Surgical Technologist Catawba Valley Health System Employee Review

Management is not in touch with what is going on on the unit. Surgical Techs on floor are also the OB tech and frequently housekeeping. Sterile conscience is still not grasped by many of the staff. They do not count all instruments on the surgical field/table and consider putting a towel over instruments as "taking them out of the count". I frequently found blood and hair in the OR while prepping for cases, probably because the surgical tech doesn't have the time or support to do their actual job. There is also a large amount of tension between OB and surgery staff/anesthesia. Only a matter of time until a patient gets hurt if it has not happened already.
