Pros
If vested in your unit it is like a family. They are mostly compassionate and understanding middle management and look out for their staff.
Cons
Benefits are restricting to where the medical care is you receive. Attendance system is a joke that even if you have a doctors note stating you need to be out of work for even serious medical conditions it counts against you. Only FMLA doesn’t count. I have seen it affect many coworkers negatively who have actual health conditions preventing them from working and have given all the proper notice and get treated like someone who called out 15 minutes before their shift.
