Pros
Teams can be made up of bright, talented, nice individuals. Resources can be substantial. Good reputation in community for quality of care in clinical space. Good reputation for quality of science output.
Cons
Work environment fell short of reputation. Administration was unresponsive to abusive Research Scientist(s). As a result, culture was overall poor. Concerns raised during employee reviews were ignored/used as cause despite at-will status. Supervisor retaliated after raising concerns 1-on-1. Supervisor had unrealistic expectations, and created hostile work environment. Supervisor was dishonest. For example, approved time off, and said they would support grant submission, and then did not extending employment before honoring sign-on bonus. Facilities available to new research in the Innovation Center were sub-par. There was almost no space for new faculty to join, and this was frustrating for faculty joining the space. Leadership would host events right outside of our labs/offices, and we were instructed not to interact with them. This propagated a sense of classism that made working there during that time feel weird in addition to above.
