There are a few genuinely nice people I got to work with while I was here.
Cons
The platform that everything is built upon is a nightmare to work with. 90% of the development time feels like it's spent fighting the framework as it does not expose WHY something failed. Projects are started without understanding what is even trying to be accomplished and BAs cannot be bothered to put any details into the stories that are handed off to developers. Quite often they are just slightly better than saying "develop a thing". Took six months to develop a project that could have been done in a matter of weeks if BAs could have been bothered to gather requirements and developers didn't spent most of their time fighting the framework. In the time it took to not finish a single project at Celero, I have completed multiple projects - all of which have been larger in scope - with my current employer. There is no room for personal growth or learning within the organization since everything is built around this framework and requires tasks be completed a very specific way. There is no freedom to work any other way; you'll always be performing the same mundane tasks. As a result, your skills will stagnate here as nobody will entertain the idea of doing things even slightly differently. The amount of code duplication within and between projects is mind boggling. There are no shared libraries and the code has been so poorly maintained that trying to create a shared library that every project could use to reduce development time is nearly impossible. Leaving Celero has given me the opportunity to work with so many new things that I never would have had a chance to there, even though they all would have been beneficial to them. Trying to think outside the box and provide better solutions is frowned up there - do it the way we've always done it because that's the way we've always done it. I absolutely hated my time there. The worst day I've had at my current employer has been miles better than my best day at Celero. I had never regretted choosing a job offer until I worked at Celero. Picking them over another offer was the biggest misstep of my career.
