Pros

- Job security and work-life balance are very much a plus in this company. This does not mean you don't get fired, but if you can complete the projects on time and become a team player there is no need to fire you from this company and they most probably want you to stay until your retirement. With the COVID pandemic, this was very much a sign of relief because getting laid off was not the first thing in our minds. (being in utilities might have something to do with it but still... the company was not ceasing everything to adjust the budget) - They do a lot for all employees and you get a sense of comradery along with that and the company is there for you. - All medical and 401K benefits aside, as engineers they reimburse you for your higher education(depending on the manager and group), which was a great bonus and incentive to improve yourself.

Cons

- As much as you want to stay in this company because of the job security, the job could get mundane depending on which group you are in. Some employees just lack the motivation to do things. Management does very little to fix this, and it brings down productivity as a group a lot. - Some of the software is outdated and because of that whatever new technology knowledge you try to apply and most times, you just have to revert to the old system because the company is set in its ways. - Upward mobility is very limited and the good ol' boy system is still prevalent. Additionally, you have to have the right resume at the right time to get that golden ticket otherwise you just plateaued and you just twiddle your thumbs until the next break which may be in 10-20 years.

Pros

Good work culture and work life balance overall. Coworkers are easy to work with. Benefits are solid.

Cons

Nearly impossible to advance into senior level roles unless you have your FE and PE. Also, sometimes it feels like leadership doesn’t provide clear direction, which can lead to confusion and mistakes.
