Pros

1) The job itself was easy - billing inquiries, answering basic questions, gas emergencies are simple once you learn. 2) "Infopedia" (internal knowledge base) is very detailed, almost everything you may have a question about is in the infopedia. 3) You might meet nice people. 4) Benefits start day one. (They offer health, dental, vision and their PTO is 2 or 3 weeks, not 100% sure - can't remember). 5. My manager originally was P. G and trainer was W. E (tenured and experienced, both started from bottom at CNP) They were the best!!!!! Always looked out for me and really took me under their wing before I ended up on the other managers team. THAT IS IT. I HATED IT HERE. 07/2019-02/2020

Cons

1. SALES SALES SALES - During the time I was there along with others apart of my training class, plus new training classes, all CNP cared about was HOMESERVE. The customer could be calling crying because they can't pay their bill, which is majority of the calls, and your manager or QA will be upset you didn't sell on that call. 2. YOU WILL BE FIRED FOR NOT MEETING THE SALES QUOTA - SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE. CNP IS WILLING TO LOSE GOOD AND EXPERIENCED WORKERS OVER THEIR HOMESERVE PARTNERSHIP. 3. Customer service is LAST PRIORITY. 4. Dirty environment! It's an internal joke that everyone gets sick together and no is really clean, we're all adults and should behave like it. WASH YOUR HANDS WHEN YOU LEAVE THE BATHROOM. 5. The software we were using is laggy and outdated. Catch up! 6. Technicians are rude sometimes and don't want to do their job, it's a pain speaking to them sometimes. Some are really nice! 7. Mandatory overtime and being stuck downtown during hurricane season is a pain. I seen people lose their jobs because they cared about their families during floods rather than customers, CNP WILL TERMINATE YOU. 8. During training you can not miss ONE DAY (8 hours). I had one colleague who suffered from cancer and had to go to a treatment and was terminated. Another lost his grandmother and instead of allowing him to take bereavement and come back to another training class, they terminated him. 9. Micromanaging - Mostly ALL managers do this, only one who didn't really do this and honestly cared about you was P. Gilmore. 10. Janitors are amazing! But. they're treated like crap by everyone in high positions - not allowed to go to certain areas. If you know Spanish speak to them, if you don't learn Spanish or smile/be nice to them. 11. Break rooms are sometimes nasty, janitors are not to blame, I've seen people blow things up in microwave or leave trash - not cleaning up behind themselves. 12. Upper management is messy, I have walked in or heard them all talking about people in a not so professional manner. 13. NO ROOM FOR GROWN IN CUSTOMER SERVICE - DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE LIE TO YOU. 14. Commuting downtown is a PAIN, regardless if you drive or catch the park and ride. 15. Last I remembered we were being paid less than $17/hr. 16. THIS IS NOT A FAMILY ENVIRONMENT NOR ARE THESE PEOPLE YOUR FAMILY, WHEN JOBS SAY THIS, THIS IS A RED FLAG! 17. If you have a newborn or a child under the age of 5, please run. I do not have kids, but my friends who worked here and did were terminated/had to quit because CNP wants you to prioritize them first. 18. DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO HARASS YOU (in anyway), REPORT IT!!!!! HR IS LAZY AND SIDES WITH EMPLOYER, GO STRAIGHT TO EEOC.

Pros

Good work culture and work life balance overall. Coworkers are easy to work with. Benefits are solid.

Cons

Nearly impossible to advance into senior level roles unless you have your FE and PE. Also, sometimes it feels like leadership doesn’t provide clear direction, which can lead to confusion and mistakes.
