Pros

Fairly stable but if you are any good employment in the power industry easy.

Cons

The organization is fake LGBT friendly to meet its federal requirements as being not discriminating against people on the basis of sexual orientation. It is pretty common for comments to be made about anti-lgbt people in the open and among supervisors and managers. Other employees walk by LGBT people and say things in passing. It is not all employees. Most are friendly but it is clear that their is really nothing done to change the culture or reign in problem employees. Stalking occurs when issues are brought up. People have to use restrooms on separate floors to avoiding being followed and needing to hear people to follow them in to say whatever while said employee is on the stall. The policies and enforcement changes with the wind. Houston used to have an ordinance passed by Anise Parker for outlawing discrimination based on sexual orientation. When that was struck down, Centerpoint made sure to change job postings and removed any mention of not discriminating on basis of sexual orientation. People that bring up issues are basically prevented from advancing and are ushered out of the organization. Everything rolled back with the last republican president and now since Biden has entered office, they have started responding to surveys from HRC on workplace LGBT equality. Anyone who works that is LGBT is basically forced into just taking poor treatment or reporting it and being eventually terminated.

Pros

Good work culture and work life balance overall. Coworkers are easy to work with. Benefits are solid.

Cons

Nearly impossible to advance into senior level roles unless you have your FE and PE. Also, sometimes it feels like leadership doesn’t provide clear direction, which can lead to confusion and mistakes.
