I was promoted to management several months ago. UPON accepting the promotion a colleague questioned my decision as they reported African Americans usually do not last long in the office. This being said I pressed on taking a pay cut to explore possible professional growth. Here is my experience
1. I am currently with a management title performing the same amount of patient visit as the other RNs in the field. There is another person in the office with my title yet patient care in the field is not performed.
2. I am the only person in the office required to be primary nurse on call.
It has been almost 6 months and nothing has changed but my title and pay. I wonder if I made a huge error in judgement and should have listened when told we are not wanted in the office.
Or perhaps it is kindred's policy to promote in title only. Is there a racial divide that I can not see.
