The experience you'll gain as a mental health nurse is amazing, exposure to many different mentally ill inmates.

Cons

The company is terrible, your time off is never approved, management unwilling to discuss issues among staffing, day to day issues pay sucks

Pros

Helping others- Other staff was great. Salary.

Cons

Prison staff at Hayes were not concerned about the safety of inmates or MH Staff. Program manager avoided doing her job- Would scream at other employees. Work wasn't always divided evenly. Some employees were considered favorites. Have to be tough skinned to deal with inmates.
