Pros
- good location downtown - smart people to work with that are helpful and sharing when asked for help - 4 weeks vacation - flexibility in where you work but that will probably change post covid - interesting industry to be in (automotive) - industry leader in the automotive space
Cons
- workload is unreasonable, there is an enormous disconnect between what is sold and committed versus the staffing situation and there is no signs of reversing the trend. It has only accelerated since the spin off. - direction changes based on which customer is screaming the most which means that planning is impossible to do. - closing of high cost offices and lots of hiring in low cost countries. There is an imbalance where core competencies is lost faster than it is replaced. - Extremely high turn over in the pre spin off offices in Europe and North America. People that was with the company pre spin have run out of steam and are no longer motivated by the company. - there are projects were employees have said that upper management have screamed at the employees - salary in general is sub par and doesn't follow the industry average - productivity is low since it is so disorganized everyone ends up doing extra hours. When you are asked to do everything nothing gets really done. - in summary I can unfortunately no longer recommend working for cerence. The company is running out of runway and the above has created what feels like a toxic work environment.
