Pros

Great work life balance. Lower and middle management is great. Tech stack is good. Day to day this place is nice to work at.

Cons

1. C-suit seems to be playing it’s own game. For example: “ Everyone should come to the office three days a week.” (Reality is almost no one comes and the cubical layout makes you feel more alone in the office then at home). “We want to re-do the way we give pay increases to match our revenue time line. ( Reality is they are pushing everyone’s pay increase from December to April so you will get a promotion and the work that comes with it but be under paid for 4 months). 2. People are leaving all the time to the point where there’s massive sections of code no one knows how it works. 3. They have annual survey's to check in to see how their employees are doing but do nothing with the results. Why pay that third party company for that survey software and not use it?

Pros

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Cerence. I learned a lot, grew significantly, and met many great people from around the world.

Cons

The number of reorganizations and layoffs took a huge toll on the company culture and morale. The company's vision and strategy was hard to pin down as well, which made my job more challenging in a less than ideal way. It was also frustrating that the tuition reimbursement advertised upon signing was actually dependent on department budgets and discretion, so I never had the chance to use it.
