Pros

Nice co-workers. Easy parking. Cafeteria in building. Big clients.

Cons

Every Friday night I vow to myself that I will give notice on Monday morning. But I feel trapped by the Detroit economy so maybe someone can call my bluff this coming week. Channelnet is a horrible place to work for one main reason – Paula Tompkins. She is either a narcissist or a sociopath. I can’t believe what she subjects her employees to on a regular basis especially now that we are tanking financially. I give us 6 months at best. No one will buy Channelnet because of her reputation. Clients quit because they don’t want to do business with her. She screams and has temper tantrums. She holds weekly meetings where she berates everyone in the room and does that randomly to people in the hallway any day of the week no matter who is around. It’s sickening. She gossips about employees past and present and likes it when there is a rift between workers. Shame on me for staying.

Pros

This is a company that is very entrepreneurial and fast moving where your contributions are noticed, appreciated and rewarded. It's a great mix of disciplines: creative, UX, development, etc. and hires some really solid people that care about their work product, and each other. I can't say enough good things about the people. I consider everyone here a personal friend. Incredible, challenging environment with great opportunity for personal and professional growth. Fun and friendly management for the most part. Strong female representation in management. The CEO is a hard-charging digital pioneer. Head of Ops, another female, keeps the place together and is always accessible and available to help clear obstacles or just hear you out. Overall great work/life balance compared to just about everywhere I have worked!

Cons

The company has experienced rapid growth and some of the issues that come with that...thus, some of the disgruntled formers you see on here (some people are apparently just born angry and disgruntled). Overall these issues have been balanced out in the time I've been here and some of the people that can't cut it are no longer there. We gotta keep being selective about the types of personalities we hire!
