Pros

A large corporation has opportunities in many different lines of business in the corporate offices in downtown Houston. From retail branch banking, Chase Private Client, Private Bank, JPMorgan Securities, and Home Lending, and so much more. My colleagues and managers are like a second family to me, and you have a lot of career options to find the best fit for you. I’m proud to work at such a reputable and prestigious company. There are feedback tools in place, and they will listen and make changes if you offer a solution to a problem. I once submit feedback that my customers wanted a way for their you get children to manage their allowance through a bank account with an app like their own to review balances and savings - I asked and they listened! And now we have Youth Solutions for kids 6years old to 17th years old to start talking to kids about money and building good financial habits early. Also, they recently changed the working hours for the retail branches to offer employees more work/life balance, and it’s nice to be home earlier.

Cons

Sometimes they make changes for you that are inconvenient to your career aspirations, such as remove the role you are in. For example they removed the Personal Banker role from retail banking a few years back, so all of us had to either become Licensed Relationship Bankers or go be an Associate Banker (formerly tellers) or find another line of business altogether in the company or take the compensation package. To their credit, they gave us plenty of time to make the decision, but in my experience it felt like my ascent to Relationship Banker was painfully slow because their was now 5,000 other Personal Bankers brewing to get the same roles, and in my market area they reduced staff positions at the same time. So I had to be willing to look outside of my home market to find a relationship banker position. In the end that was the best decision for me, but it was hard that all these changes happened at once seemed to conspire against me staying in my home branch.
