Pros
I loved working for Checkr; I loved my job and team. I found it challenging and interesting. I felt supported and valued. The Core Values weren't just a slogan on the well. I was given the latitude and trust to design, develop, and execute training programs that supported the company's targets and mission, all while mentoring and creating opportunities for others. I had a lot of opportunities to grow my skills and interact with many people in the company. Pay and benefits were great. The company mission is incredible, and the support from front-line managers was outstanding. It was truly a great company to work for until.....
Cons
The company was not transparent with its financial issues. Transparency being one of the core values, I find this extremely disappointing. There were a lot of extraneous business expenses negatively impacting the company's bottom line. Instead of looking for ways to reduce spending, they took the whole company to Las Vegas for four days, and they provided catered lunches four days a week in the office. Most employees were required to return to the office three days a week, more days in office, means more company expenses. Those are just a few examples among many other things that cost the company money. A mere two and half months after the Las Vegas trip, there was a company-wide RIF, and 32% of employees were let go. Interestingly, 30% of the company received less than "meets" end-of-year review scores, per company communication. For the most part, they were not part of the 32% impacted by the RIF. The most experienced and highest paid were let go. Since then, similar positions have been listed as open with significantly reduced pay. This is not a great look for the company. I am extremely disappointed.
